We are currently nearing completion of a mini refit (PRISM (Planned Refit Intermediate Survey and Maintenance)) on O.N. 1223 Arklow Trent Lifeboat. The Arklow will be taken on Sea Trials at the beginning of October to prove all of the systems.
O.N. 1136 The Tyne Relief Lifeboat was hauled at the end of August for a repair to her propeller shaft; once the repair is complete she will leave the yard and carry on her duties.
We are due to haul O.N. 1226 Relief Lifeboat also at the beginning of October for full refit.
As with all refits every item of equipment, all paint, all doors, hatches, windows, window surrounds are removed, serviced and refitted. The hull is stripped bare and re-sprayed with the latest in marine primers and paint systems. All electrics, electronics and engineering equipment is checked, serviced and tested before being given the all clear by the RNLI surveyors to be refitted.
The RNLI Lifeboats are an important part of Falmouth Boat Construction's business. As with all work on Yachts and Cruisers the work undertaken has to be of the highest standard. We are proud to be the Major Refit Yard for the RNLI in the South West!
